Barbados Welcome Stamp

Barbados is the Southeast island within the Caribbean. It is almost 250 miles northernmost of Tobago along with Trinidad. But the island is just 21 miles long and 14 miles wide, yet with miles of sandy beaches in addition to a pleasant climate, without any doubt, there is a lot to discover!

Barbados initiated the Barbados Welcome Stamp scheme in July 2020, which is basically a visa, allowing remote employees to work in Barbados for about 12 months. The program would assist in driving the economy of Barbados that depends massively upon tourism which has been suffering due to the COVID. But in return, with this scheme, you could have the opportunity to expand your work scope.

Requirements for Barbados Welcome Stamp

Barbados Welcome Stamp is open for all those remote employees who are paid at the minimum of $50,000 per year. Moreover, they need to declare that they have enough income to support their families and themselves while living in Barbados. The visa program has the cost of $2,000 for a single person and $3,000 for a family, and the cost is paid when the application is approved.

For getting the application accepted, applicants need to fill in a form online, submit the income declaration, and finally, the details of the job they will be doing throughout their time in Barbados. People who get approved will pay the tax in their country of origin and are not supposed to pay income tax on the island.

When the program was launched, the Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Amor Mottley said in an interview that the COVID-19 has remodeled the landscape of the global business as many individuals prefer to work from their homes. She further added that by having this visa, we will be able to provide individuals with a good chance to spend the coming year working from home in Barbados.

The application process

The procedure of the application for the Barbados Welcome Stamp is actually very simple and easy. What you need to submit are:

A photograph (passport-size)
Information page of your as well as your partner’s (or dependent) passport
Relationship proofs of your partner (or dependent)
The payment that is $2,000 for individuals and $3,000 for families should be paid in under 28 days of the approval of the stamp.

How This Works

It will take around 5 business days for the application to be processed. Once approved, you will be given 12 months from the approval date to commence on your journey to Barbados. However, you will receive the stamp after arriving in Barbados, and your 12-month once-in-a-life opportunity begins.

Also, you will be able to move in or out of the island during your one-year stay without being liable to pay income tax. Though a health plan is required before approval of the application, Barbados actually has medical insurance plans too. Barbados proffers high-speed and steady fiber internet along with a great number of accommodation alternatives ranging from pocket-friendly to expensive.

Regulations of COVID-19

If you come from a high-risk nation, you will be required to have a negative COVID test from an authorized health authority in less than 3 days before arriving on the island. But if you come from a low-risk country, you can take the test a week prior to traveling. After reaching the airport of your origin, your test result will also be validated and then, you will have to go to the pre-approved accommodation. You will not be allowed to move from the property as long as you have the 2nd negative test results at least 5 days after the first test.

When you have the second test result, in case of a negative, you will be free to have the best of your time on the island.

Quarantine Procedures

As said earlier, you will be taken to your government-allocated quarantine accommodation. From there, the help-desk staff will arrange a COVID test for you. You will have to go to a government hospital for the test for free or you can choose to take the test in your own room by the authorized hospital staff for a fee. Your results will arrive in a day or two.
