Tortola is the largest of the 60 or so islands that make up the British Virgin Islands – but don’t let that fact persuade you that it must, therefore, be overcrowded and hectic.
Far from it!
After all, there are less than 22,000 residents of all the islands combined so, even with quite a few uninhabited, that still leaves plenty of free space for everyone.
Tortola represents Caribbean living at its most laid back and most accessible. You can delight in the idyllic, palm-shaded white-sand beaches –often completely alone; you can revel in the opportunities for unrivaled swimming, snorkeling, fishing or scuba diving; you can discover the historical past of the island by visiting The Dungeon at Lockwood Pond, Fort Burt, Fort Recovery or the Callwood Rum Distillery; you can wander down Main Street in Road Town and lazily inspect the West Indian spices, jams, soaps and jewelry before buying your souvenirs; or you can just do nothing!
If you’re thinking of a first ever Caribbean vacation, Tortola is a perfect choice – the language is English, the currency the dollar and there’s none of the aggressive tourism of some of the other islands.

Is there any nice all-inclusive resorts there?
The only resort that probably has All Inclusive options would be Guna Island Resort, a Private Resort Island in the British Virgin Islands, I don’t believe you’ll find any in Tortola unfortunately.
