Barbados Tamarind Resort to reopen

The Elegant Hotels Group’s Tamarind in Barbados is set to reopen Nov. 1  2010, after a four-month renovation and a name change from the former – Tamarind Cove Hotel.

The new 246 Restaurant, getting its name 246 from area code for Barbados, is an all-day dining facility that features an a la carte menu, a six-course dinner menu and two themed dining evenings per week.  Barefoot beach dining in the evening also is a new option.

Other restaurants are the Sugar Cane Room, which offers a kids’ menu; the Tamarind Beach Club; and the new outdoor Rilaks Deck, which becomes an adults-only dining area from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

All of Tamarind’s 104 rooms and suites have been updated and introductory rates through Dec. 18 start at $199 per room, per night, double, with a three-night minimum stay required.
